A Journey of a Thousand Miles Begins with One Step

I’ve waited for a sign to show me the best way to go for a long time. It doesn’t do much except exacerbate the fomo. So here I am, taking baby steps into the digital space.

Sometimes the most cliché sayings we’ve heard since childhood are also the most apt. This writer has let his angst and ego get in the way of accepting these kinds of words sometimes. It’s a real tragedy, and kind of… self-righteous, maybe? To think that everyone is a fool that came before me is certainly foolish.

I don’t claim to be a wise man, but wisdom has been passed down through generations for a reason. Tried, true, and tested methods often don’t need to be refined. They work fine, and much time can be wasted trying to figure out a better way, only to find the old ways were best anyway.

I feel that now, especially, when people are fighting for your attention, they benefit from confusing you and keeping you in a feedback loop. The doomscrolling, the deepfakes, and the promise of an easy life of passive income are some examples of how I believe people keep you as the product. I want to break free. I want to be myself. Mostly, I want to be more than a burden on society.

All that being said, I don’t even have a real direction for this blog! Irony? Blasphemy? Something else negative?

Nothing else negative, that’s a path I need to avoid. I hope that this journey will help me find some personal answers to these issues, and maybe some more focused writing.
